The “Respublica” project, also known as The Republic of Pachanga Empire, is a conceptual, political, immersive art project, incorporating elements of postmodernism, Situationism, metamodernism, and other contemporary art movements. It was created by artist and blogger Anzor Hoashal as a response to ongoing wars and political manipulations that devastate lives across the world.
While traveling the world and sharing his life on his YouTube channel, Anzor frequently encountered pressure from haters urging him to take sides in various armed conflicts. Seeing the absurdity of these political games, he decided to respond with irony—by creating his own state as a conceptual deconstruction of political games.
Building the project on interaction with the audience, Anzor created The Republic of Pachanga Empire as an artistic reflection on societal pressures and expectations, emphasizing that a free person should not succumb to manipulation but can consciously and independently make their own choices.
The Republic of Pachanga Empire encompasses all the attributes of a real state—a head of state, citizens, passports, a national anthem, a flag, a currency, and a constitution, which serve as a parody of traditional state symbols and institutions. The project critiques borders, slavery, political violence, and wars, offering an alternative vision of the world based on the principles of freedom, peace, and humanism.
The project quickly attracted global attention and participation, transforming into a utopian performance piece. Participants actively engage with the created symbols, prompting them to reflect on the nature of power and identity.
