The Republic

The “Respublica” project, also known as The Republic of Pachanga Empire, is a conceptual, political, immersive art project, incorporating elements of postmodernism, Situationism, metamodernism, and other contemporary art movements. It was created by artist and blogger Anzor Hoashal as a response to ongoing wars and political manipulations that devastate lives across the world.

While traveling the world and sharing his life on his YouTube channel, Anzor frequently encountered pressure from haters urging him to take sides in various armed conflicts. Seeing the absurdity of these political games, he decided to respond with irony—by creating his own state as a conceptual deconstruction of political games.

Building the project on interaction with the audience, Anzor created The Republic of Pachanga Empire as an artistic reflection on societal pressures and expectations, emphasizing that a free person should not succumb to manipulation but can consciously and independently make their own choices.

The Republic of Pachanga Empire encompasses all the attributes of a real state—a head of state, citizens, passports, a national anthem, a flag, a currency, and a constitution, which serve as a parody of traditional state symbols and institutions. The project critiques borders, slavery, political violence, and wars, offering an alternative vision of the world based on the principles of freedom, peace, and humanism.

The project quickly attracted global attention and participation, transforming into a utopian performance piece. Participants actively engage with the created symbols, prompting them to reflect on the nature of power and identity. 

The Republic of Pachanga Empire provides a space for critical thinking and imagining an alternative future, demonstrating that other ways of existence, free from political manipulation and violence, are possible.

Anzor Hoashal, the project’s creator, embodies the principles of personal freedom. Traveling the world, he demonstrates how one can live outside the shackles of an enslaving system. Moreover, he is personally familiar with the horrors of war, which makes this project deeply personal and significant to him. His experience and knowledge lend the project additional strength and credibility.

An example of a similar impact of art on society can be seen in the works of Banksy. His graffiti, such as “Flower Thrower,” symbolizes peaceful protest and the pursuit of freedom through non-violent means.

Another significant example is Pablo Picasso’s painting “Guernica.” This work, created in response to the bombing of the city of Guernica, became a symbol of the anti-war movement.

Like Plato’s allegory of the cave, where people break free from illusions, The Republic of Pachanga Empire encourages individuals to question the political narratives imposed on them and seek their own truth.

The Republic of Pachanga Empire is a dynamic and participatory art project that merges irony and sincerity, criticism and utopian aspirations. It encourages participants to actively engage rather than passively observe, turning them into citizens who interact with the project’s symbols and narratives. By blurring the boundaries between art and reality, it challenges perceptions, disrupts conventional norms, and fosters a deeper reflection on power, identity, and freedom.

The citizens of The Republic of Pachanga Empire are individuals who understand and share these ideals, living consciously and freely, much like the project’s creator. They actively participate in the life of the project, contributing to its development.
